Marc Jacobs checked into rehab

Designer Marc Jacobs has checked into rehab! This is what I read in some celebrity gossip news today, apparently MJ has checked into rehab right after presenting his shows in Paris. I wonder if his substance abuse problem contributed to the hideous clothing and bags that he has created for both Louis Vuitton and his own lines Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs in the few recent seasons. I seriously hope that after he comes out from rehab, we will see the talented, innovative Marc that actually has taste again. That being said, these days rehab had become way too common that it's almost a trend, we see Miss America, teen queens or former teen queens, even politicians checking into rehab, wonder if that truly does make a difference in the person's life. One suggestion I'd make to Marc though: "quit hanging out with people like your ex or Lindsay (unless she stays sober after rehab)!" Here is the article if you are interested:

Designer Marc Jacobs Enters Rehab

Well-known designer relapses after seven years of sobriety. Well-known American fashion designer Marc Jacobs has entered rehab. With the support of friends and family the designer has entered a drug and alcohol treatment program. Jacobs has admitted in the past to struggling with substance abuse problems, and he has recently relapsed from seven years of sobriety. Such relapses are quite common, say experts. According to Jacobs’ business partner, Robert Duffy, the American designer recognized the problem right away, on his own, and made the right decision to get treatment. He adds that Jacobs’ friends and family are praying for him.Jacobs’ rehab announcement came on the very same day that the designer received two nominations in an impending award show. The Council of Fashion Designers of America has given Jacobs nominations in women’s wear and accessories for its upcoming award show. The nominations follow Jacobs’ recent well-received previews of fall collections, one in New York and the other in Paris.

Marc Jacobs RTW F/W 2007 in New York Fashion Week

It's really exciting to see all the F/W 2007 shows. This season is an extension of the bold S/S 2007 trend, with subtle femininity under interesting cuts, bold colour, and menswear inspired sexiness. In the midst of excitement, I would like to talk about the disappointment (or maybe not so much so since I really quitted expecting much for him) brought to us by the I-can-design-crap-and-you-will-still-worship-me LVMH golden boy Marc Jacobs. His show reminds me of The Great Gatsby goes fishing meets Tom and Jerry. Yes, I am talking about Tom and Jerry as in the cartoon with the cat and the mouse. His American Dream inspired suits really does remind me of one of Tom's outfit. I don't understand how he can take the same trend and create something that will look completely ridiculous on anyone. The suits are supposed to be some sort of menswear inspired bold power suit, but can you seriously imagine some female CEO wearing that? The hats are supposed to give an elegant polished look but they look more like hat for fishing or farming.

After the American, how about some Italian now? sounds good?

ok...now did MJ borrow John Galliano's personal outfit for his show? This totally looks like something that John Galliano would wear with his hippie's hair. I'd call this menswear gone too far.

finally we do have Paris inspired look too, isn't MJ just so diversed? here it is:

How do you like this 16th century Parisienne Court Pierrot inspired look? If that doesn't look like some French clown, you'd certainly find something like that in a Vegas magic show....
